Asante Filmworx is an award-winning film company dedicated to the development and production of feature-length documentary and narrative films.

Founded by filmmaker and author M.K. Asante, Jr., Asante Filmworx tells stories that need to be told. We are committed to producing entertaining, thoughtful and imaginative stories.

Asante Filmworx debuted in 2005 with the feature documentary 500 Years Later, winner of Best Documentary at five international film festivals and recipient of the Breaking the Chains award from the United Nations. Our second release, The Black Candle, is a feature documentary narrated by Maya Angelou.

By merging cinema with social purpose, our films do not only show the world as it is, but as it could be.
